Daniel Weaver started the first commercial Lebanon Bologna company in the late 19th Century.His guiding dream was to be able to enjoy the flavor of Lebanon Bologna, a previously seasonal treat throughout the year. With perseverance and many pounds of wasted bologna, he discovered the method of preservation which would stand the rigors of commercial distribution without spoilage.
From this first success, Daniel went on to establish a water company for distribution to the local community which eventually became part of the municipal system; and an ice plant to supply means of preservation for perishables during the hot summer months. He then organized a company to manufacture electricity which served many of the county villages and hamlets. A true pioneer with vision, Daniel Weaver’s method, albeit refined, is still in use making the best Lebanon Bologna you’ll find anywhere.
